Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the result service; our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. If you contact us, we receive the content of your message and use it to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Hosting systems may create ordinary logs, such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. We review that data in aggregate for security, maintenance, and usage patterns. Cookies or similar tools can support basic analytics and, where used, advertising measurement.
What We Do With This Data
We use the limited data to operate the service, resolve technical issues, measure traffic, and improve the reference pages. We do not sell lists of visitors or construct individual visitor profiles.
Links to Other Websites
Links lead to county and state portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search services. Those services control what happens to information submitted on their pages. The same is true of sponsored results supplied by a third party.
Who Might See Your Data
Hosting and support providers process logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising providers may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose information only when valid legal process requires disclosure.
How We Protect Your Data
The service uses encrypted connections, and logs are retained only for the purposes stated here. Because there are no user accounts, the service does not hold a visitor password or account profile.
Users Under 18
This reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor supplied information so it can be removed.
Your Privacy Choices
Virginia's Consumer Data Protection Act, Va. Code ยงยง59.1-571 et seq., provides covered consumers rights concerning access, correction, deletion, and certain opt-outs, subject to its exemptions. Because this reference keeps very little information, a request usually involves checking the contact mailbox and applicable server logs. Use the Contact page to ask. Public records held by Virginia, Fairfax County, or another custodian are outside our control and must be addressed to that office.
Updates to This Policy
Changes will appear on this page. Continued use after a revision indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
